False Cases and Audio Clips Involving RSO and BD Intelligence Agencies
How Rohingya Refugees are Being Silenced by RSO and BD Intelligence
Members of the Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO) from Camp 1, along with collaborators from other camps, are reportedly working with the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI). They have filed numerous false cases at the Ukhiya police station, implicating many Rohingya refugees. These accusations primarily target those involved in anti-RSO protests when the RSO attempted to abduct Rohingya youths for conscription.
In Camp 1 alone, nearly 50 innocent individuals have been falsely implicated in murder cases. Estimates suggest that more than 500 innocent refugee protesters are being targeted with arbitrary murder charges. Some refugees have already been arrested in connection with these cases. This tactic appears to be an effort to silence opposition and enable the continuation of conscription activities and other government agendas.
Key Individuals Involved:
Head Majhi Jahangir: A prominent RSO member in Camp 1, Jahangir and his brother were once shot in broad daylight on January 4, 2023. Jahangir is now known for his role in forcibly recruiting refugees.
Saddam: The RSO commander for Camp 1 has also played a significant role in forced recruitment drives.
After clashes with refugees, Jahangir, Saddam, and their RSO members fled the camps. From outside the refugee camps, they are allegedly fabricating cases against those that opposed them.
Viral Audio Clips:
Recently, audio clips allegedly belonging to Head Majhi Jahangir and RSO Commander Saddam have gone viral. In these clips, they reveal that their actions were carried out under government instructions, not on their own accord. These messages effectively expose the government's backing of these individuals to destabilise the camps and conscript Rohingya youth for the Myanmar junta.
Head Majhi Jahangir's Message: Addressed to residents of Block A and members of Camp 1, Jahangir clarifies that their actions were under government orders.
He warns that further resistance will have severe consequences, including potential casualties and explicitly warning that "killing 100 to 200" to stop opposers would be considered.
Jahangir urges Camp 1 RSO members to return to the camps and work with the authorities.
For this post, I will upload two audio clips by Head Majhi Jahangir ( his voice has been confirmed by people who have worked with him).
In this message above, Head Majhi Jahangir is threatening the residents of A Block. He states that every individual will face legal action according to the laws of Bangladesh if they had opposed the RSO while it was carrying out activities as instructed by the camp authorities. He emphasises that the RSO is not acting against the camp authorities or without their permission. Everything they do is according to the authorities' instructions. Therefore, anyone who opposed them will inevitably face action from the camp authorities. He also mentions that they are collaborating with the camp authorities to file cases against these individuals.
In a second clip, his threats continue. Here is the translation and then the clip in Rohingya language. Note also that he mentions ARSA alongside RSO and ARA.
”There is still time for those who opposed us to control themselves. There is no need to worry. Do not try to continue opposing us; instead, reflect on the mistakes you have made. No one has acted on their own behalf; it has all been done under the government's orders. The RSO had to follow the government's directives. This was not done by the RSO, ARSA, or Halim—it was done as per the government's orders. You have not opposed us or them; you have opposed the government directly. Despite this, we have not allowed the government to take action so far. How many people need to be killed to stop you? It might be just 100 to 200. It doesn't matter. Why isn't the government taking such actions? They will not do so unless necessary. However, if you keep opposing us, this action will be forced. Act accordingly to avoid the need for such measures.
Kindly forward my message to others who have not heard me (referring to the people of block A).”
I asked one Rohingya youth who resides in an adjacent camp for his comment on these audios. This was his response verbatim:
Instead of protecting innocent Rohingya refugees, the camp authorities, such as the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), the National Security Intelligence (NSI), and the Armed Police Battalion (APBN), are involved in criminal activities with the Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO) and the Arakan Rohingya Army (ARA). Due to the actions of these authorities, the situation in the camps is getting worse day by day. Their involvement seems intentional, worsening conditions for the refugees instead of providing the safety and security they need.Under the pretext of eliminating the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), the authorities, along with illegal armed groups, are committing serious abuses against the refugees. They are torturing, maltreating, abducting, exploiting, abusing, and killing innocent Rohingya. Additionally, they are falsely accusing them of various cases, and extorting money from these vulnerable Rohingya Refugees. These actions are causing immense suffering among the refugees, making their already difficult lives even harder.
